NYC Health + Hospitals is almost finished with the construction of its Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hospital.
The hospital will be the first new public hospital in New York since 1982, according to an Oct. 6 news release. It was funded through a $923 million grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Features of the facility include a new emergency room double the size of the current space, an eight operating room surgical suite, an endoscopy suite, 80 private surgical beds, 60 behavioral health beds, robotic surgery, inpatient dialysis, diagnostic and interventional radiology and clinical laboratories.
The health system held a celebratory event on Oct. 6 unveiling a statue of former Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg which will be located in the lobby of the new hospital.
The hospital is expected to open in early 2023.
