Cullman (Ala.) Regional Medical Center now has 175 beds after completing its $30 million two-phase expansion project, according to a Jan. 4 press release.
The project added 30 new beds to the center's critical care and medical-surgical units, which both received major renovations to their patient care areas.
The new critical care rooms offer patient beds that have advanced technology with therapeutic and patient safety features.
A four-story bed tower was also part of the project and was completed last July, along with an enlargement of the hospital's emergency department in 2022.
The hospital also plans to open an outpatient facility and a freestanding emergency room this summer.
"North Alabama's population growth and our rapidly growing team of physician specialists are significant drivers for expansion projects like these," James Clements, CEO of Cullman Regional Medical Center said in the release.
A fully accredited medical center, Cullman Regional has over 1,200 employees, with 80 active staff physicians and 101 courtesy and consulting physicians, according to its LinkedIn page.
