The following list includes accountable care organizations and collaborative care agreements that were announced, launched, or expanded in January, beginning with the most recent.
1. Heritage California ACO to exit Pioneer program
Heritage California ACO, an affiliate of Marina del Rey, Calif.-based Heritage Provider Network, will transition from the Pioneer accountable care program to the Next Generation ACO model.
2. Aledade launches 2 new partnerships to further ACO efforts
Aledade — a Bethesda, Md.-based company that helps independent physicians launch ACOs — announced two new partnerships in January that support value-based care, one of which was with the Mississippi Academy of Family Physicians, to support the formation of a Medicare Shared Savings Program ACO. The other partnership was IT-related.
3. Humana, ConcertoHealth launch value-based care in Detroit
Detroit-based ConcertoHealth teamed up with Humana to launch a value-based care program for Medicare Advantage patients in Detroit and Southeast Michigan.
4. Cigna, WakeMed Key Community Care Partners launch collaborative care initiative
Cigna is partnering with existing ACO, Raleigh, N.C.-based WakeMed Key Community Care, to enhance healthcare access, care coordination and affordability for Cigna beneficiaries in the Triangle area of North Carolina.
5. Cigna, Health Choice Preferred roll out ACO
Phoenix-based Health Choice Preferred, an ACO and division of Franklin, Tenn.-based IASIS Healthcare, is teaming up with Cigna to roll out more coordinated care for more than 16,000 patients with commercial health plans in Utah.
6. 100 new ACOs join MSSP
CMS' Medicare Shared Savings Program added 100 new ACOs and renewed contracts with nearly 150 ACOs on Jan. 1.
7. CMS announces Next Generation ACO participants
CMS officially launched its Next Generation ACO Model this year with the selection of the first 21 participating ACOs.
