The director of the agency running Arkansas' health insurance exchange will resign Feb. 21, according to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.
Angela Lowther, executive director of the Arkansas Health Insurance Marketplace, said in a Jan. 24 letter to the agency's board that she is leaving to pursue new opportunities.
The decision came as a surprise to board members. The board voted to accept Ms. Lowther's resignation and said it will hire a replacement.
In 2013, the Arkansas legislature created the marketplace to set up a state-run health insurance exchange. The exchange is for individual consumers and small business employees who purchase their own health insurance.
