The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality has issued a revised proposal for a system to collect patients' reports of adverse events.
AHRQ intends to request the Office of Management and Budget approve the proposed information collection project, called "A Prototype Consumer Reporting System For Patient Safety Events." The project has three main goals:
1. Develop and design a prototype system to collect information about patient safety events.
2. Develop and test web and telephone modes of a prototype questionnaire.
3. Develop and test protocols for a follow-up survey of healthcare providers.
AHRQ published the original proposal in September and made substantial revisions based on comments. Comments on this revised proposal are due July 8.
