In recognition of National Assisted Living Week, from Sept. 14-19, the National Center for Assisted Living released statistics on the current state of the industry in a Sept. 13 news release shared with Becker’s.
Here is what to know.
1. More than 1 million residents live in assisted living. The majority of residents are 85 and older and more than two-thirds are female.
2. There are more than 41,400 assisted living and residential care communities in the U.S.
3. The average assisted living community has 33 licensed units.
4. About 512,300 employees work in assisted living, including more than 455,000 full-time nurses, nurse aides and social workers.
