Moffitt Cancer Center agreed to purchase 9acres of land in Hillsborough County, Fla., for a 75,000-square-foot facility, ABC Action News reported Aug. 17.
Construction is expected to start in 2023 and be completed by late 2024. The ambulatory center will include services such as screening and diagnostics, biopsies, medical oncology, radiation oncology, infusion, pharmacy, and clinical trials.
"Moffitt is building incredible momentum to expand our footprint and bring cancer care closer to where our patients live," Patrick Hwu, MD, president and CEO of Moffitt, told ABC. "We are laser-focused on future expansions that will allow us to create a Moffitt health system to address the growing cancer burden in the state of Florida."
Moffitt expects to create 150 jobs and serve 9,000 patients within the first five years after opening.
