Effingham Hospital in Springfield, Ga., has been designated a Level IV trauma center by the Georgia Department of Public Health.
As a Level IV trauma center, the hospital will provide initial trauma care, transferring patients to a higher level trauma center if necessary.
Effingham Hospital is the fourth hospital with a Level IV center in the state.
