Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems has sold two Florida hospitals to Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based AdventHealth.
The two hospitals included in the transaction are 193-bed Heart of Florida Regional Medical Center in Davenport and 160-bed Lake Wales (Fla.) Medical Center. The transaction closed roughly three months after CHS entered into definitive agreements to sell the hospitals.
CHS has been selling off hospitals in recent years to improve its financial position and reduce its debt load. During 2018, the company completed 11 hospital divestitures and permanently closed three hospitals. As of Aug. 1, CHS had completed the divestiture of nine hospitals this year.
