Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems has completed the sale of Highlands Regional Medical Center, a 126-bed hospital in Sebring, Fla., to Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare.
The hospital will be part of HCA's East Florida Division, which is headquartered in Fort Lauderdale and includes 14 hospitals, as well as ambulatory surgery centers, imaging centers, freestanding emergency care facilities, a supply chain center and a regional laboratory.
CHS divested Highlands Regional Medical Center as part of a turnaround plan it put into place last year, which involves the company selling 30 hospitals to trim its debt load.
