1. Elkhart General, Memorial Hospital of South Bend Name New Parent Organization
Beacon Health System chose the new name for the parent structure combining Elkhart (Ind.) General Hospital and Memorial Hospital of South Bend (Ind.).
Pennsylvania Attorney General Linda Kelly reached an agreement with Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger Health System to place provisions on its proposed acquisition of Bloomsburg (Pa.) Hospital.
Jones Memorial Hospital in Wellsville, N.Y., pursued a formal Collaborating Institution Agreement with the University of Rochester (N.Y.) Medical Center.
South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, Mass., agreed to become a member of Boston-based Partners HealthCare System with a memorandum of understanding.
Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic, Fairview Health Services in Minneapolis and Fairview Red Wing (Minn.) Health Services signed a tentative agreement for Fairview Red Wing Health Services to become part of Mayo Clinic Health System.
Wheeling, W.Va.-based Ohio Valley Health Services and Education Corp., parent company of Ohio Valley Medical Center in Wheeling, W.Va., and East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry, Ohio, signed a letter of intent to affiliate with Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems.
The boards of NYU Langone Medical Center and Continuum Health Partners, both New York City-based non-profits, approved a memorandum of understanding for a merger that would create one of the largest healthcare systems in New York City.
Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Hospitals signed an asset purchase agreement with Woods Memorial Hospital in Etowah, Tenn., to acquire the hospital.
