1. McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital, Mercy Health to Explore Affiliation
McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Ohio, and Cincinnati-based Mercy Health announced they will explore a strategic affiliation.

2. Antitrust Settlement Allows Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, St. Elizabeth Medical Center to Affiliate
Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare and St. Elizabeth Medical Center, both in Utica, N.Y., settled antitrust concerns with the state of New York, allowing the two financially troubled hospitals to move forward with a proposed affiliation.

3. Port Huron Hospital Signs Deal to Join McLaren Health Care
Flint, Mich.-based McLaren Health Care will soon have 12 hospitals in its system, as Port Huron (Mich.) Hospital signed a letter of intent to join McLaren.

4. Merger Between Lehigh Valley, Greater Hazleton Systems Receives Clearance
The merger between Lehigh Valley Health Network in Allentown, Pa., and Greater Hazleton (Pa.) Health Alliance received the green light from regulatory officials.

5. WestCare Health System, Duke LifePoint Healthcare Reach Acquisition Agreement
WestCare Health System, based in Sylva, N.C., signed a memorandum of understanding to merge with Duke LifePoint Healthcare, a joint venture of Durham, N.C.-based Duke University Health System and Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Hosptials.

6. Massachusetts Commission to Study Lahey Winchester Hospital Affiliation
The Massachusetts Health Policy Commission announced plans to conduct a cost and market impact study of Winchester (Mass.) Hospital's proposed affiliation with Lahey Health in Burlington, Mass.

7. University of Maryland Finalizes Acquisition of Upper Chesapeake Health
Baltimore-based University of Maryland Medical System and Upper Chesapeake Health in Bel Air, Md., finalized their merger deal, which has been four years in the making.

8. American Federation of Teachers Criticizes CHS-HMA Transaction
The American Federation of Teachers, one of the largest teachers unions in the country and an affiliate of the AFL-CIO, wrote a letter to Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems and Naples, Fla.-based Health Management Associates expressing concerns over their pending merger.

9. Tulare Regional Medical Center to Affiliate With Healthcare Conglomerate Associates
Tulare (Calif.) Regional Medical Center's board of directors unanimously selected Healthcare Conglomerate Associates as a possible affiliation partner.

10. New York Health Department Encourages Massena Memorial Hospital Privatization
The New York State Department of Health encouraged Massena (N.Y.) Memorial Hospital to continue working toward privatization.

11. Halifax Regional Medical Center to Merge With Novant Health
Novant Health in Winston-Salem, N.C., and Halifax Regional Medical Center in Roanoke Rapids, N.C., agreed to a merger deal.
