Sutter Health Seeks Approval to Form HMO in California

Sacramento, Calif.-based Sutter Health has filed an application for a license to form a health maintenance organization catering to small and midsize employers, according to a report by Business Insurance.

Sutter Health will be better positioned to work directly with patients and better manage their health care needs with an HMO, according to the report.

If the HMO gains approval, Sutter Health will offer HMO products to small and midsize employers in the greater Sacramento and Central Valley regions, beginning in 2014.

Sutter Health has 5,000 member physicians, 24 hospitals and outpatient and home health care, according to the report.
