New Jersey State Nurses Association has appointed Judith E. Schmidt, RN, MSN, CEO, according to a TAP into Livingston report.
Here are four things to know about Ms. Schmidt.
1. As CEO, Ms. Schmidt will lead NJSNA, which represents the interests of 125,000 registered nurses and advanced practice nurses in New Jersey. In the report, she said she is looking forward to "bringing the organization to the next level."
2. She is the immediate past president of NJSNA, and has been serving as the interim CEO since December 2014.
3. A long time NJSNA member, Ms. Schmidt has been elected to many leadership positions, such as American Nurses Association delegate, NJSNA vice president and NJSNA Region 6 president. As a NJSNA past president, she served as chairwoman of the association's foundation, the Institute for Nursing. In addition, Ms. Schmidt is a member of the Philippine Nurses Association and National League for Nursing.
4. For more than three decades, Ms. Schmidt has practiced at Community Medical Center in Toms River, N.J., where she is currently the nurse educator for the night shift staff.
