Jameson "Jamie" Smith has been named president of Denver-based Saint Joseph Hospital, effective Nov. 16.
Here are six things to know about Mr. Smith.
1. He takes over for Barb Jahn, COO of Saint Joseph Hospital, who has been serving as the interim president since Bain Farris left in June.
2. As president, Mr. Smith will also oversee the joint operating agreement between Saint Joseph Hospital, part of SCL Health, and Denver-based National Jewish Health.
3. He has worked in various leadership roles with Englewood, Colo.-based Centura Health. Most recently, he was chief administrative officer and senior vice president of Penrose-St. Francis Health Services in Colorado Springs, Colo.
4. Before Centura, Mr. Smith worked with Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare for five years as vice president of operations at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, N.C., and as associate administrator at Atlanta Medical Center.
5. Previously, he was also a medical platoon leader in the 1st Calvary Division at Fort Hood, Texas, as well as administrator of the pediatrics department at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Bethesda, Md., for nearly two years. He also worked in leadership roles at financial services companies.
6. He earned a master's degree in business administration from the University of Texas at Austin, and a bachelor's degree in economics from Trinity University in San Antonio. In 1994, he completed basic officer leadership from the U.S. Army Medical Department.
