West Orange, N.J.-based RWJBarnabas Health restructured its Southern Region, naming a consolidated leadership team for the region and making changes to systemwide leadership, effective immediately.
Systemwide leadership changes include:
1. Joshua M. Bershad, MD, is the executive vice president of physician services. Previously, he was an executive vice president and CMO of RWJBarnabas Health.
2. Vicente H. Gracias, MD, is the interim chief academic officer. He maintains his role as professor of surgery, senior vice chancellor for clinical affairs of Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences and president and chair of Rutgers Health Group.
3. Gabriel Kaplan, MD, is the CMO of the Barnabas Health Behavioral Health Network. He is the former medical director at New Bridge Medical Center in in Paramus, N.J., and PerformCareNJ.
4. Amy Mansue is executive vice president and chief experience officer for RWJBarnabas Health. Previously, she was president of the Southern Region.
5. David Mebane is executive vice president and general counsel for RWJBarnabas Health. He was formerly general counsel for RWJBarnabas Health.
6. Eliza Ng, MD, is CMO of population health. She most recently served as deputy CMO of MetroPlus Health Plan, a subsidiary of New York City-based NYC Health + Hospitals.
7. Lina Shihabuddin is CMO of primary care for physician services. She was previously CMO for the Behavioral Health Network.
8. Suzanne Spernal, DNP, is vice president of women's services at RWJBarnabas Health. She has worked at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, N.J., for 20-plus years.
The Southern Region was restructured and now comprises RWJBH facilities and programs in Monmouth and Ocean counties. Regional leadership changes include:
1. Nikolas Alexiades is the regional CFO for the Southern Region. He was CFO of Newark (N.J.) Beth Israel Medical Center and Children's Hospital of New Jersey in Newark.
2. Bill Arnold president of the Southern Region. He was previously the president and CEO of Monmouth Medical Center and The Unterberg Children's Hospital in Long Branch.
3. Shirley Hwang, MSN, RN, is regional vice president of business development for the Southern Region. She was previously vice president of business development at Monmouth Medical Center.
4. Diann Johnston, MSN, RN, is the regional chief nursing officer for the Southern Region of RWJBarnabas Health and also CNO at Monmouth Medical Center. Most recently, she was the vice president for patient care services at Monmouth Medical Center and The Unterberg Children's Hospital.
5. Richard Kiernan is the regional chief human resources officer for the Southern Region. Prior to that, he was regional chief HR officer for Monmouth Medical Center and Monmouth Medical Center, Southern Campus.
6. Gail Kosyla is the regional CFO of the Central Region and senior vice president and CFO of RWJUH Hamilton (N.J.). Most recently, she served as senior vice president of strategy and CFO at Hunterdon Healthcare System in Flemington, N.J.
7. Richard L. Davis is CFO of the Northern Region and senior vice president and CFO of Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, N.J. He has served as senior vice president and CFO of Saint Barnabas Medical Center since 2012.
Additionally:
1. Patrick Ahearn is the CEO of Community Medical Center in Toms River, N.J. He was previously the hospital's COO.
2. Eric Carney is CEO of Monmouth Medical Center and The Unterberg Children's Hospital. He most recently served as the facilities' COO.
