Centene CFO to step down, replacement named

Centene CFO Drew Asher is stepping down at the end of 2026.

According to an Aug. 17 news release, Mr. Asher will retire at the end of 2027, staying with the company next year to ensure a smooth transition.

Mr. Asher assumed the CFO role in 2021. He was the company’s second-highest-paid executive in 2025, taking home $16 million. Under his leadership, the company grew from roughly $126 billion in revenue in 2021 to $195 billion in 2025. Mr. Asher’s career includes more than three decades of financial and healthcare leadership, the news release said. 

Chris Neczypor will join Centene in September and take over the executive vice president and CFO role on Jan. 1, 2027.

Mr. Neczypor was most recently CFO at Lincoln Financial. He held other leadership positions during his tenure and previously worked at Goldman Sachs.
