Wichita, Kan.-based Ascension Via Christi has appointed a leader to oversee the shuttered Derby, Kan., hospital it acquired in June.

Linsey Coster was named president of Via Christi St. Peter, effective Sept. 13, according to an Aug. 20 LinkedIn post from the health system.

She brings more than 20 years of healthcare and operational leadership to the role, most recently serving as COO of Via Christi St. Joseph in Wichita. Before that, she held roles as assistant COO at St. Joseph and vice president of business operations at Via Christi St. Francis, also in Wichita.

In her new role, Ms. Coster will lead the licensing, clinical planning, community integration and opening of the hospital. It is slated to open in summer 2027.

Ascension Via Christi signed a letter of intent to purchase the facility in March and acquired it June 26. Previously known as Rock Regional Hospital, it closed in January after a federal judge approved its eviction process amid legal disputes regarding unpaid rent.

Ascension Via Christi is part of St. Louis-based Ascension.
