The 2011 SailPoint Market Pulse Survey found 80 percent of Americans are concerned about moving medical information into an electronic health record, according to a SailPoint news release.
The survey assessed U.S., U.K. and Australian consumers' perspective on security breaches. The percent of Britons and Australians concerned about moving to an EHR was similar to that of Americans, at 81 percent and 83 percent, respectively. Specific concerns about the EHR included identify theft, medical records exposed on the Internet, nosy healthcare workers and employers' discovery of a personal medical condition.
