West Orange, N.J.-based RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J., have launched a technology innovation hub powered by Amazon Web Services.
Four things to know:
1. The Rutgers/RWJBarnabas Health Innovation Hub aims to advance medical education, clinical innovation and patient care throughout New Jersey, according to a Sept. 15 health system news release.
2. The hub will bring together students, clinicians, researchers and technology experts. Students will have access to AWS technology, cloud computing credits, operational support, technical mentorship from AWS engineers and the broader AWS Cloud Innovation Centers network.
3. Students throughout Rutgers will have the chance to participate in four- to 10-week rapid prototyping projects. The inaugural cohort is expected to include up to five interdisciplinary teams working on needs identified by Rutgers faculty and RWJBarnabas Health clinicians. Potential focus areas may include tools to support clinical decision-making, streamlined hospital operations and efforts to advance health equity.
4. The hub will be housed in the Health and Life Science Exchange in New Brunswick, N.J. Operations are slated to begin in fall 2026.
