In the coming two years, key investment areas in patient engagement will center around facilitating easier patient access through features like self-scheduling and self-registration, addressing preferences expressed by patients, a Nov. 15 survey from KLAS found.
KLAS surveyed 93 healthcare executives, mostly CIOs, about patient engagement and where they're looking to invest in the next one to two years and found:
- Forty-eight percent of respondents said they will be investing in access and digital front door experience.
- Twenty-four percent of respondents said they will be investing in patient journey optimization.
- Twenty percent said they will be investing in physician efficiencies and communications.
- Sixteen percent said they will be investing in portal optimization and consolidation.
- Ten percent said they will be investing in virtual care and patient monitoring experiences.
- Eight percent said they will be investing in patient financial experience.
- Six percent said they will be investing in patient education.
