Trends in value-based care influence technology adoption among 92 percent of health information exchanges, according to a recent eHealth Initiative and Foundation survey.
For its 2019 Survey on HIE Technology Priorities, which was supported by population management company Orion Health, the eHealth Initiative and Foundation collected responses from 53 U.S. HIEs in 35 states. Participants were surveyed on topics including technology adoption, data exchange and business drivers.
Five survey insights:
1. Fifty-eight percent of respondents said managing risk and delivery on value-based contracts is one of the leading factors driving their business.
2. When asked about their priorities for the next two years, 47 percent of respondents said interoperability, 43 percent said value-based care and 40 percent said integrating workflows.
3. Seventy-seven percent of participants said they offer provider alerts, and 72 percent of respondents said they offer HIE to HIE exchange.
4. Only 6 percent of respondents said they offer remote patient monitoring, and 40 percent of participants said they are not likely, or very not likely, to adopt remote patient monitoring within the next two years.
5. Sixty-seven percent of participants said they have witnessed a significant, or very significant, growth in demand from payers for more access to clinical data.
