Radnor Township, Pa.-based Main Line Health was awarded $1 million Sept. 15 in local share account grant funding for a future project at the shuttered Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park, Pa.
The former Upland, Pa.-based Crozer Health hospital closed in April 2025. It was then purchased by KQT Aikens Partners, a group of private investors, for $1 million in September 2025.
Crozer, which was part of bankrupt Prospect Medical Holdings, comprised four hospitals. It closed its last facility, Upland-based Crozer-Chester Medical Center, May 2, 2025.
“Prospect Medical’s bankruptcy and subsequent closure have had devastating effects in Delaware County,” Pennsylvania Democratic Rep. David Delloso, said in the release. “My district, in particular, suffered significantly from the shutdown of Taylor Hospital. Taylor wasn’t just a healthcare provider but a major employer in the area, too. As is standard for private equity firms, services were cut to siphon larger profit margins for shareholders until patients and employees were left with nothing.”
While Main Line Health is not the hospital’s owner, the health system is evaluating options to use the funds to expand its emergency care capacity, including at Taylor Hospital.
“Our state leaders have been exceedingly supportive and persistent as we respond to the increased patient volume resulting from the closure of Crozer Health last year,” a spokesperson for Main Line Health said in a Sept. 17 statement shared with Becker’s. “We are actively evaluating options, including Taylor Hospital, to expand our emergency care capacity and look forward to sharing more details as those plans develop.”
