Georgia cancer treatment center engages consultants, wants to hire CFO

The only proton therapy center in Georgia, and one of only 36 in the nation, has engaged consultants to provide "interim administrative and operational management services" as well as accounting and finance management, according to a July 6 filing.

Atlanta-based Georgia ProtonCare Center, also known as Emory Proton Therapy, has also established a contract with BDO Consulting to transition the CFO position into an employee of the company.

BDO, which has been working with the center since May 24, is expected to continue its work for a maximum of a year and not less than six months. The center is located within a short distance of eight major healthcare system facilities.

Proton therapy is seen as a precise form of radiation treatment as it targets only diseased cancer areas, unlike traditional radiation, which can also be used on healthy tissue.
