New York City-based NewYork-Presbyterian completed construction on its David H. Koch Center, a $1.1 billion ambulatory care facility in Manhattan that will soon become home to a women and children's hospital.
The 740,000-square-foot facility is located on the New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center Campus in Manhattan, the most populous borough of New York City.
The ASC will offer a wide range of services, including outpatient surgery, diagnostic imaging, infusion services and an integrative health and wellbeing program. The ASC is equipped with 12 operating suites, six radiology procedure rooms, 11 endoscopic procedure rooms and an operating room dedicated to breast surgery.
A multidisciplinary team of specialists will begin seeing patients at the center April 30.
In 2020, the top five floors of the facility will become home to the NewYork-Presbyterian Alexandra Cohen Hospital for Women and Newborns. The women and children's hospital will feature 75 private rooms, 60 neonatal intensive care isolettes, 16 labor and delivery rooms, five c-section suites, 15 ultrasound rooms and 20 maternal critical assessment rooms. Construction on the hospital will cost an additional $300 million, reports Crain's New York.
"Our goal in creating the NewYork-Presbyterian David H. Koch Center was to develop a new vision for what ambulatory care could be by focusing first and foremost on patients' needs and the delivery of exceptional care," said Steven Corwin, MD, president and CEO of NewYork-Presbyterian.
The center was named after David Koch, a NewYork-Presbyterian board member, who provided $100 million toward construction of the new outpatient center.
