Around 500,000 medical records from Fresenius Medical Care U.S.-based patients have been stolen from a data warehouse, according to Reuters.
Fresenius subsidiary Cardiovascular Consultants identified an incident affecting its computer system and a group claimed to have stolen the data in September. The company worked with a forensic firm to investigate the incident and found encrypted data was accessed and stolen, according to the report.
The stolen data included information from patients, former patients, guarantors and about 200 staff.
Fresenius doesn't think the incident will affect its finances or operations.
