Alan Papa, FACHE

In January, 2011, Mr. Papa returned to Akron General Health System (AGHS) as President and Chief Executive Officer of AGHS after serving three and a half years as President and Chief Operating Officer of Mount Carmel West Hospital, (Trinity Health) in Columbus, Ohio. Prior to joining Mount Carmel, Mr. Papa served in senior-level positions at AGHS from 1999 to 2007, most recently as Senior Vice President of Operations and Development. Additionally, Mr. Papa’s previous experience includes serving as Vice President of Network Development and, earlier as Vice President of Cardiovascular Services, at St. Vincent Infirmary Medical Center (Catholic Health Initiatives) in Little Rock, Arkansas; Assistant Vice President of Operations at Deaconess Hospital in Cleveland; and various director-level positions at Mt. Sinai Medical Center in Cleveland. Mr. Papa received his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Youngstown State University and his Master of Business Administration degree from Cleveland State University. Mr. Papa is a member of various community and professional boards including the Red Cross of Summit and Portage Counties where he serves as a member of the Executive Committee; Akron Civic Theatre; Pastoral Counseling Service; Life Banc of Ohio; Akron Regional Hospital Association where he serves as Vice Chairman; and the American College of Healthcare Executives of Northern Ohio. He is board certified in healthcare management as a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (“FACHE”). Mr. Papa resides in Hudson, Ohio with his wife of 30 years, Nancy and they have two grown children.
