Psychiatric nurse practitioners have the highest share of remote job postings among medical roles on Indeed, according to a July 31 report from Indeed Hiring Lab.
Healthcare and caregiving skills now account for 7.5% of all sought-after skills in remote job postings, according to Indeed. The report identified the eight medical job titles with the highest share of remote postings on the platform, based on U.S. data.
Much of healthcare work no longer requires in-person presence, Indeed economist Sneha Puri said in the report. Telehealth visits, remote patient monitoring, virtual triage, case management, medical coding and utilization review can all be done from anywhere. Employers are also using remote flexibility to reach a broader candidate pool for hard-to-fill roles, Ms. Puri said.
The findings arrive as health systems recalibrate their remote work strategies. Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic ended remote-only job listings effective May 1, saying the change was intended to strengthen collaboration and advance innovation. Some systems have shifted toward hybrid rather than fully remote models — Fredericksburg, Va.-based Mary Washington Healthcare’s CHRO Joanne Huber-Sturans told Becker’s in May the system has seen that shift firsthand.
