Northeast Georgia Health System has launched the Georgia Heart Institute.
As part of the new institute, all 14 locations previously known as The Heart Center of NGMC are now collectively called Georgia Heart Institute. Addresses, phone numbers and many of the providers and staff will remain the same, according to a Sept. 7 news release.
The new institute will collaborate with aligned practices including the cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons of Northeast Georgia Physicians Group, and the vascular surgeons of Longstreet Clinic, among others.
"While NGHS has a long and rich tradition of providing exceptional heart and vascular care, Georgia Heart Institute represents a bold new vision for the future of our region – and beyond,” said Habib Samady, MD, interventional cardiologist and president of Georgia Heart Institute.
"Our priority is continuing to provide top quality care, but we're also focusing on expanding access to appointments, providing an exceptional patient experience, and increasing collaboration between all our cardiologists and surgeons."
The new institute also aims to expand research teams and involvement in clinical trials.
