North Adams (Mass.) Regional Hospital is anticipating a reopening by the end of March after being closed for a decade.
The hospital, owned by Pittsfield, Mass.-based Berkshire Health Systems, scheduled a ribbon-cutting for March 28, exactly 10 years to the date after it closed under previous ownership, a spokesperson for Berkshire confirmed with Becker's.
The previous owners of the hospital declared bankruptcy and closed it in 2014, Spectrum News 1 reported March 21.
North Adams Regional is waiting on its license and pharmacy in-lab license before it is able to reopen.
A survey will also be performed by the federal government to determine if it can be a critical access hospital after it opens, which would allow swing beds for extended care and better reimbursement eligibility, the publication reported.
