Greater Baltimore (Md.) Medical Center. The Sandra & Malcolm Berman Cancer Institute at GBMC has received a full accreditation from the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and is the largest facility in the state to have this designation. GBMC earned the Outstanding Achievement Award from the Commission on Cancer this year. The center's clinical cancer research program offers more than 50 treatment trials for a wide variety of cancers and therapies. The center boasts survivorship rates that are 7 to 10 percent above the national average and keeps its breast cancer surgery-to-diagnosis timeline to within 10 days.
