Fake nurse gets prison time for healthcare fraud

A Missouri man who pretended to be a nurse to secure jobs at several healthcare organizations was sentenced to prison June 12, according to the Department of Justice.

Benjamin David Danneman was sentenced to 57 months in prison for healthcare fraud, Social Security fraud and aggravated identity fraud.

Mr. Danneman stole the name and nursing licensing number of a registered nurse to secure work at healthcare organizations in the St. Louis area. At these facilities, he was responsible for the care of patients needing skilled nursing care. He served as the assistant director of nursing at one of the facilities, Des Peres (Mo.) Healthcare, according to the Justice Department.

During 2017 and 2018, Mr. Danneman used the personal identifying information of several people, including Social Security numbers, to rent apartments, get a driver's license and obtain loans, credit cards and insurance in several states.
