Poll: Integrating Physicians Could Increase Costs

Acquiring and integrating physician practices could be driving up healthcare costs, according to a recent poll conducted by the American College of Physician Executives.

Of respondents who said the question was applicable to their organization, 32 percent said costs went up after their hospital or health system bought a medical group or practice. Roughly 16 percent said costs stayed the same after a group acquisition and only 5 percent said costs decreased, according to the news release.

The poll garnered 459 responses from ACPE members.
