3 Statistics on Physicians' Work Hours Per Day

Half of physicians reported working between nine to 11 hours a day, according to a survey conducted by Jackson Healthcare, a healthcare staffing company.

 

 

For the survey, 3,456 physicians were polled between March 7 and April 1, 2013.

According to the survey, 80 percent of physicians reported being on call, and when asked how many hours per day they worked, the responses were as follows:

•    Five to eight hours: 25 percent reported this
•    Nine to 11 hours: 50 percent reported this
•    Twelve to 16 hours: 19 percent reported this
