16 Oncology Center Openings, Expansions and Transactions

Here are 16 oncology center openings, expansions and transactions that have occurred or been announced in the past month, starting with the most recent.

1. Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center announced it will build a $118 million proton therapy center on its Liberty Township, Ohio, campus.

2. Johnson City (Tenn.) Medical Center is raising funds for a $15 million expanded and renovated radiation oncology department.

3. Waukehsa, Wis.-based ProHealth Care will break ground for its $70 million cancer center in Puewaukee, Wis., Sept. 17.

4. Chelsea (Mich.) Community Hospital announced plans to build a new cancer center to expand current cancer services offered on the CCH campus.

5. Los Angeles-based La Peer Health Systems opened the doors of a new surgery center for post-cancer breast reconstruction.

6. Cody, Wyo.-based Big Horn Basin Regional Cancer Center, co-operated by West Park Hostpital in Cody and Billings, Mont.-based St. Vincent Healthcare, is re-opening after major updates and an ownership change. 

7. Schaumburg, Ill.-based Cancer Treatment Centers of America is planning an $84.1 million patient tower at Midwest Regional Medical Center in Zion, Ill., one of five cancer hospitals across the country that it operates. 

8. Pittsfield, Mass.-based Berkshire Health Systems comleted the first phase of its $30 million cancer center at the BMC Hillcrest campus in Pittsfield.

9. Pequannock, N.J.-based Chilton Hospital completed a $4.4 million cancer center renovation. 

10. Orangeburc, S.C.-based Regional Medical Center opened the $8 million expansion of its H. Filmore Mabry Center for Cancer Care.

11. A collaboration between Austin, Texas-based St. David's Healthcare, San Antonio-based Texas Transplant Institute, Nashville, Tenn.-based Sarah Cannon Blood Cancer Network and Dallas-based Texas Oncology will create a blood cancer treatment center in Austin. 

12. Columbus (New.) Community Hospital created a new rehabilitation program for helpign cancer survivors get life back to normal. 

13. The University of Alabama at Birmingham Comprehensive Cancer Center, part of UAB Health, is preparing to open the Wallace Tumor Institute in Birmingham after a $30 million renovation. 

14. The University of Rochester (N.Y.) Medical Center and Rochester, N.Y.-based Interlakes Oncology and Hematology, a community-based cancer treatment center, announced their intent to expand their collaboration. 

15. Torrington, Conn.-based Charlotte Hungerfield Hospital is reconsidering the construction of its proposed cancer center in East Litchfield, Conn. 

16. The University of Pennsylvania Medical Center's Abramson Cancer Center in Philadelphia decided to expand its tumor genetic testing to all tumors from melanoma, blood, brain and lung cancer patients.
