CFO Mike Stuart: Riding the Changes at Daughters of Charity Health System

When Mike Stuart began working in 2002 with Daughters of Charity Health System in Los Altos Hills, Calif., as a healthcare consultant with Deloitte & Touche, the system had just broken away from San Francisco-based Catholic Healthcare West, now known as Dignity Health, with whom it had merged in 1995.

Mike Stuart is CFO of Daughters of Charity Health System.After a year, Mr. Stuart became the system's director of financial services, then vice president of system finance two years later, interim system CFO the following year and anchoring himself as full-time CFO in 2006.

The six-hospital system led by the Daughters of Charity, Province of the West, signed an affiliation agreement in December 2012 with St. Louis-based Ascension Health, the largest non-profit hospital chain in the United States, joining the four other provinces of the Daughters of Charity who were among the Catholic orders that founded the Ascension system in 1999.

Mr. Stuart holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from California State University, Chico and an MBA in finance from Saint Mary’s College of California.
